Maggie has been as psychotherapist with Larry E. Shyers, Ph.D., and Associates since October 2008. She is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and is currently working on a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision with a Specialization in Forensic Mental Health at Walden University.

Maggie is a member of the American Mental Health Counseling Association and the Association for Counselor Education and Supervision

Maggie has been qualified by the Fifth Judicial Circuit Court to provide expert testimony on issues related to child counseling, in addition to physical and sexual abuse. She also conducts Social Investigations dealing with child custody issues for the Court.

Maggie specializes in working with children who have been traumatized through physical or sexual abuse. She has worked with children and their families through separation and divorce as well as with issues related to the educational system. She has extensive experience working with children involved in the foster care system. 

Maggie also has a passion for working with children and adults with both physical and cognitive disabilities in clinical and non-clinical settings. She has worked with individiduals with disabilities in a camping recreation setting since 2002.

Maggie works with individuals, couples and families. She takes a goal-directed approach to counseling, aiming to help clients leave each session with new skills and coping techniques. She feels that each individual has a unique story to share and that counseling can enhance one's ability to grow and learn from life's experiences. Maggie strives to make all her clients, court ordered or voluntary, comfortable with the counseling setting and process.

Maggie is originally from the suburbs of Buffalo, New York where she lived until graduating from high school.
